AFFILIATION DIRECTIONS 2018-2019

Affiliation reoccurs each year for both the institution and the NRHH chapter. Many institutions coordinate affiliation with NACURH through the Residence Hall Association (RHA-or equivalent), so your chapter may only need to worry about the NRHH-specific portions of reaffiliation. If your institution only affiliates an NRHH chapter, then follow all of the directions on NACURH's website.

1. REVISE THE CHAPTER'S CONSTITUTION

In order to have a successful affiliation, each chapter constitution must comply with the constitution checklist. This checklist is derived from NRHH policy and often changes throughout the year. The constitution checklist will have all of the components required to be in your chapter's constitution, and it is the tool used to cross-check your constitution with NRHH policy. For the 2018-2019 affiliation year your chapter must implement the new membership statuses. You can find the constitution checklist here.

2. PREPARE YOUR CHAPTER'S MEMBERSHIP LIST

In addition to an up to date constitution, each chapter is required to submit an active membership list. Please indicate who your on-campus, off-campus, and lifelong members are as well as a non-school e-mail address for each member. A template for the membership list can be found here.

3. ANSWER THE NRHH CENSUS QUESTIONS

As a part of the NRHH Strategic Plan, an NRHH Census will be conducted as a part of affiliations. You will be required to answer various questions about your chapter. These questions will be compiled and used for the creation of resources, and supporting NRHH chapters throughout the year.

4. UPLOAD MATERIALS TO THE NACURH WEBSITE

The chapter constitution and membership list should be uploaded. Follow the directions on the first page of the affiliation process to submit your constitution and membership list.

5. IF REVISIONS ARE NEEDED...

After you submit your materials to the NACURH website, your regional Associate Director for NRHH (ADNRHH) will review the constitution to make sure all necessary components are present. If they are not, then your ADNRHH will contact you.

6. RESUBMIT, IF NEEDED

Continue corresponding with your ADNRHH and ADNOA until your ADNRHH confirms that your constitution meets affiliation requirements. Your ADNRHH will then communicate that you have successfully submitted an acceptable constitution to the NCO. Then, you will be fully affiliated (pending payment of affiliation dues, which are institutional and not specific to RHA or NRHH. Coordinate with your RHA if they typically pay affiliation dues to make sure they have completed that process).

7. CONGRATULATIONS!

You're affiliated! You have full access to NACURH and NRHH's resources, services, as well as voting rights at conferences.
