Upcoming Dates
NRHM:
Hey, NACURH!
As you may know, April is National Residence Hall Month! Throughout April, RHAs, NRHH chapters, RAs, and professionals celebrate what we do to serve our residents. Participating in NRHM is a great way to energize housing leaders and staff members, to remind ourselves of the values and priorities which motivate our work in residence life, and to join in a network of celebration across NACURH!
NRHM is broken into 4 weeks:
April 1-7: Spring into Service
April 8-14: Advocacy Week
April 15-21: Recognition Week
April 22-28: Programming Week
Additionally, we celebrate three special days during NHRM:
April 6th: NACURH Day of Service
April 10: Pin Day (Wear your NRHH Pin!)
April 25: NRHH’s Birthday (Post a video of your chapter singing Happy Birthday to NRHH!)
Check out the NRHM Guide for 2013 which has been forwarded over the regional listservs for a slew of ways to celebrate the four weeks of NRHM, or come up with your own ideas. Make sure to like us on Facebook at facebook.com/nacurhnrhm so you can share all the amazing things you’re doing to celebrate NRHM with us! While you’re at it, follow us on Twitter (@NRHM2013)!
In addition to programming, Pin Day, and NRHH’s Birthday, you can celebrate NRHM in a variety of ways, including:
1) Participating in Spring into Service! The 8 regions of NACURH are competing to submit the most service hours during NRHM, so help your region out by doing some community service and record your hours at: http://tinyurl.com/
2) Participating in the NRHM Philanthropy! We highly encourage you to collect hygiene items (CAACURH/GLACURH), clothes (IACURH/MACURH), food/canned goods (NEACURH/PACURH), and toys/books (SAACURH/SWACURH) for donation to local shelters, Salvation Army, food banks, etc! Share how many items you collect throughout the month of April when you submit your SiS hours at the Google Doc above.
3) Recognizing scholastic excellence with the Diamond Dean’s List! Submit the names of your RHA/NRHH members with GPAs higher than a 3.5 or your school’s equivalent at: https://docs.google.com/a/nacurh.org/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dF9PQzExYU81UWllYmNLY1NPaUd2N1E6MQ
The NRHM Guide contains the contact information for members of the NRHM Committee, so let us know if you have any questions! If you haven’t received a copy of that guide, please feel free to contact our committee chair, Lena Tenny, at swacurhnrhh@nacurh.org or Coty Behanna at Ca_nrhh@nacurh.org; they’d be happy to send it your way!
We look forward to seeing how YOUR campus celebrates National Residence Hall Month!
NACURH Love,
NRHM 2013 Committee
